Hi everyone,
On Saturday July 27th my mom and nieces were involved in a car accident totaling her only vehicle. The girls luckily are okay. My mom however went to the Emergency Room to get checked out because she thought she may have broken her hand and was having neck and back pain. X-rays showed nothing was broken but her CT scans showed us something we didn’t know was there. On top of her having pneumonia they discovered a 3cm black spot on her lung. She has been in the hospital since on multiple antibiotics to try and figure out what’s going on. There are some major concerns about her lungs currently especially due to the fact she has an autoimmune condition and is on immunosuppressants:
1. TB possible However, he thinks it very unlikely, in this area, that is the case.
2. Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (formerly called Wegener's) is a rare disease of uncertain cause that can affect people of all ages. It is characterized by inflammation in various tissues, including blood vessels (vasculitis), but primarily parts of the respiratory tract and the kidneys. With this if we caught it early enough it can be treated.
3. Malignancy due to family history.
4. An abscess from aspiration.
Due to the fact that her car is totaled and she has been in the hospital since with no idea of how long she will be in there, she is missing work and wracking up hospital bills and will have to see a lung doctor and hand surgeon once out of the hospital. She is recently separated and is the only income in her home. She is a hard working and incredibly loving mom and grandma. She is a huge part of her kids and grandkids lives. We appreciate anyone who is able to help in any way!
