Thank you for supporting Mohannad Derdasawi. My name is Christa Robinson, and I am a graduate student at Michigan State University. I have been corresponding with Mohannad online since July of 2024. I hope that you will consider donating to Mohannad and his family who have been trying to survive the war on Gaza.

The family fleeing April 3, 2025. They do not have a place to go to or transportation to get there. The war has resumed and so has the blockade on humanitarian aid since March 2, 2025.

Mohannad and his family have been displaced multiple times. When I met Mohannad, they had already been displaced from the northern part of Gaza to Deir Al-Balah. Then he described his life as a tent surrounded by fire because of the war. By August 2024 his brother was injured. Life was difficult by the sea and crowded. People were squeezed in with nowhere else to go.

By September the weather had gotten cold, the rain pierced their tent. And still the violence surrounded them, with lack of food and shelter but an abundance of bombs and casualties. By December, Mohannad was robbed of his phone while he was sleeping inside his tent. The main source of income for Palestinians, having been cut off from almost every way to make a living, is by contacting people on social media and asking for donations. Meanwhile, people were freezing to death from the cold and lack of shelter.

Mohannad's brother still has an injured leg, for several months now.

In January 2025, Mohannad's family returned to the north to find it had been heavily damaged by the occupation and their home was completely destroyed. The north had less supplies than the camps and life became more difficult. They made camp in their tent near their destroyed home. Even during the "ceasefire" the buzz of drones and planes that targeted Palestinians were overhead. When the "ceasefire" ended, Mohannad and his family were displaced again to the "safe zones," without food or water. With Eid, the attacks on Gaza became more intense. Mohannad's family have been forced by the occupation forces to flee again.

As of today, April 3rd, 2025 they are back on the streets, leaving on foot they were forced to leave even the tent behind. At each "evacuation" Palestinians are not provided with any means to escape, the blockade on food, fuel, and more means that finding transportation to escape Israeli attacks is almost impossible. Right now, Mohannad does not know where to go, how to buy food, and more. He urgently needs your donations to help his family survive.

Current costs are $400 for transportation, and $200 for food. Mohannad will use donations for basic needs like food, clothing, medicine, shelter, and transportation. I will send him the funds through PayPal.
