My name is Christie Miller, and I am one of six daughters to my parents.

In 2021, our father was diagnosed with kidney cancer, which unfortunately necessitated the removal of one kidney. Compounding this, his only remaining kidney also suffers from kidney disease. In addition to these significant challenges, he also endures arthritis and a number of other ongoing health problems that impact his daily life. During his initial diagnosis, a small nodule was also detected on his lung; however, it was determined to be too small to biopsy at the time, and we have been monitoring it closely.

He underwent immunotherapy for a year, and while we were hopeful it would fully address his cancer and improve his immune system, it unfortunately caused other health issues that we are now managing. We are continuing to explore options for his care and support him through these ongoing medical challenges.

In 2024, my mother, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, was diagnosed with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy, followed by several months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She is now on estrogen blockers to prevent recurrence.

More recently, in 2025, after my mother completed her treatments, my father had a follow-up for a nodule that had grown significantly. A PET scan revealed several cancerous spots. A biopsy confirmed stage four cancer. Due to his weakened health from previous treatments, arthritis, and extreme gout issues, surgery and chemotherapy are considered too dangerous. He is currently undergoing targeted cancer treatment and immunotherapy. The prognosis is challenging, with less than an 18% survival rate, and we are praying for a miracle.

This past year has been particularly difficult for my mother. She recently underwent spinal surgery to remove bone spurs, shortly after recovering from wrist surgery. She is currently wearing a neck brace and is not doing well. There is also a possibility she may need surgery on her other wrist. In addition to these issues, she was diagnosed with diabetes last year, adding to her ongoing health issues.

These past four years have been incredibly trying for our family. My father has taken a leave of absence from work due to his own illness, and my mother is doing her best to go to work every day, though sometimes she is unable to, to help provide for her household.

We are reaching out for assistance from anyone who can help us offset the financial burden as they navigate these health issues. Any support would greatly lessen their burden and allow them to focus on their recovery. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers for our family, as we need them more than anything.
