Urgent Aid for Merlin's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michal and I’m from Wyoming. I’m raising funds to cover urgent medical and spinal surgery bills for my beloved dog, Merlin.
Merlin was born on February 28th, 2021, in Poznań, Poland. At just four months old, he made the journey of a lifetime—flying from Warsaw to JFK Airport in New York to join our family. From day one, he was the most loving and joyful dog you could ever meet. Always smiling, always full of life—he never had a bad day.
He loves long walks, chasing squirrels, and going on adventures. He traveled with us from the East Coast (Rhode Island) to Wyoming to begin a new chapter. And from the very first day, he fell in love with Laramie. Gone were the noisy city streets—replaced by open landscapes, fresh air, and the mountains he adored. His favorite place quickly became the Snowy Range, where he loved to hike and cool off in mountain creeks.
But on Wednesday, April 8th, our world fell apart.
That morning, he was playing in the backyard like always. At 6 a.m., I called him inside—and he froze. He couldn’t take a single step. His back legs were completely unresponsive.
We rushed him to the vet, but answers didn’t come quickly. After two agonizing days, we finally got the heartbreaking diagnosis: severe chondroid disc degeneration in his spine, massive spinal cord compression, and a large amount of extruded disc material and bleeding. Merlin had been living in excruciating pain for days. For the first time, I saw tears in his eyes.
Even though the surgery was beyond our financial means, I didn’t hesitate. We found a specialist in Denver and moved forward. I would do anything to save him.
And then, a miracle happened—the surgery went well. Just two days later, Merlin was discharged and came home. Since then, my wife and I have been by his side 24/7—sleeping on the floor next to his crate, making sure he’s cared for during every moment of recovery.
He must remain crated for six weeks and will need two follow-up neurology visits. We also travel over 180 miles each way to the hospital in Denver. The total cost so far is $12,060.16, not including upcoming visits and travel expenses. That’s why we’re asking for $15,000—to help us cover Merlin’s surgery, follow-ups, and recovery needs.
We can provide all documents—bills, medical reports, MRI scans—if needed.
Merlin is not just a pet—he is our son, our heart, our everything. He’s strong, sweet, and still full of love and life. Please help us give him the chance to walk, run, and live pain-free again.
Every donation brings him closer to healing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
