Urgent Aid for Maria's Medical Expenses

Hi, I'm Maria from GV Minas Gerais, Brazil. I moved to New York 38 years ago at 21. I have been cleaning houses since then.

At the end of April 2024, I was hospitalised for a month, then unable to work for four months, and now I work as much as I can, but it's a lot less than I used to be able to.

Back in April, I had gone to a clinic because I had sever pain in the lower right part of my belly. The doctor told me that I had appendicitis, but also the worse anaemia they have ever seen, and that I was internally bleeding. I was rushed to the hospital where they surgically removed my appendix, but also my gallbladder. They found out that the internal bleeding was caused by an ulcer.

After four weeks in the hospital, I was sent home with a bag attached to my stomach area because the surgeon had cut off something by accident which caused bile to leak. At the hospital, I was in agony because of how bad the pain was.

26 years ago I got into a serious car accident where my back was injured . I have 7 herniated discs from this accident and my hope is that I can get back surgery before I turn 60 this year.

I have $12,000 of medical bills overdue which I urgently need to pay. If I get the back surgery, I will be unable to clean houses for a whole year. Hopefully, I can fundraise money in the future for living out a full year without working.
