Hi, I'm Cassia, and I would like to introduce you to my friend Mahmoud Ahmed Salem.

Mahmoud recently turned twenty-four, and this was his second birthday spent suffering in the conflict in Gaza, Palestine. My husband became friends with him over video calls and chats online. Sadly, he and his family require assistance to recover from their current circumstances. In this war, he has lost his father, sister, and beloved cat. Despite his young age, he is the sole provider for his eight family members. The circumstances have only made this task harder. Prior to the war, he was a model, but this source of income is not currently possible. They struggle get money for necessary food, water, rent, and medical treatments.

Urgently, his mother suffers from a seizure disorder and needs medication daily. She has been repeatedly hospitalized which has only exacerbated the families financial hardships.

For a breakdown of estimated expenses, please see the following list.

-Monthly rent: $1,100 (in the beginning of every month)

-Seizure Medicine: $350 every month

-Food: at least $50 everyday

-Flour: $300 for a 25kg bag (To have flour every week and a half, he needs $200)

-Gas can: $70

-Water: $1 everyday

-Milk shipment: $50 every week
