My name is Caira Stetson and I have the enormous privilege to have the Dame family in my life. On Sunday, July 27th, Joy became violently ill after leading worship at church. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She began complaining of a very bad headache. She then suffered a cardiac arrest and coded for 11 minutes. She was intubated and admitted. An MRI showed a catastrophic stroke in the lower region of Joy's brain. She had significant swelling that was placing pressure on her spinal column creating the urgency for immediate surgery. A shunt was placed to drain excess fluid and a portion of her skull in the back was removed and a section of damaged tissue was removed to help alleviate pressure on her brain. Since the surgery, joy has maintained safe pressure in her brain, but the current, urgent need is for her to regain consciousness. She is not currently sedated, but as of yet has not woken up. She is in the ICU and being closely monitored by doctors. The journey ahead will be long and difficult. Jeremy and Joy have 3 wonderful boys. They will need help with many things financially in the coming months. Would you consider helping the Dame family while they navigate this difficult time?
