Please help John and his mother Marian Brainerd.

John and his mother Marian have lived together in a mobile home in Canby for many years. Marian owns the mobile home and they have both contributed to space rent and utilities.

Through Covid, Marian suffered some major health issues and needed a lot of care. In July of 2024 her care needs were significant enough that she had to move into a nursing facility with the hope that she would be able to return home eventually. The cost of the nursing facility takes almost all of her income and she is only left with about $145 a month for herself.

John works at the Astro gas station in Canby and has been paying the space rent and other expenses for the home on his own for almost a year.

Unfortunately, John has also had some major health issues including two heart attacks and then a stroke in September 2024. Due to low income and these major health issues, John has slowly been falling behind on the space rent and if he does not come up with the full balance of $3600 by 5/31/25 he will be evicted on 6/3/25.

It is unclear what will happen to the mobile home if John is evicted as neither he nor Marian have the resources to move it. It would be a devastating loss for John and Marian if they loose the space and the mobile home.

John's vehicle has been having issues and is not currently running although it does start up so it might be an easy fix if he had the resources to get it looked at.

Once the back balance is caught up John intends to find roommates to occupy at least one of the two vacant rooms in the home to ensure he does not fall behind again. John hopes that Marian will be able to come back in the future so he has not decided if he will be able to rent out the second room.

John is also pursing getting himself on disability for his health complications which should give him more stable income when he is no longer able to work. John has reached out to social service agencies to see if he qualifies for assistance that would help him keep his home but nothing has worked out yet.

If John is not able to pay the back balance and the eviction is finalized, any funds raised here will go toward vehicle expenses and helping him set up his new living situation elsewhere.
