Urgent Aid for Jablaia Refugee Camp
Donation protected
My name is Bassam Hussein, and while I currently live and work in Trondheim, Norway, my roots and extended family are in Gaza, specifically in the Jabalia Refugee Camp. Jabalia is not only my birthplace but also home to nearly all my cousins, uncles, aunts, and other family members. It is where our family’s tragedy with other Palestinian tragedies began after Nakba in 1948 and where they continue to live amidst unimaginable hardships since October 2023.
Since the second of October 2024 the plight of the families forced from their homes has become an urgent humanitarian crisis. The scenes unfolding are of unimaginable hardship, with countless innocent people driven from their homes in the dead of night, left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The Israeli forces entered their homes, demanding they leave—mothers, fathers, children, and the elderly alike—all forced to abandon everything they knew. Many were pushed out towards Salah al-Din street, with no shelter, no water, no safe refuge. Some went to Alshatii refugee camp and some went towards central areas like Gaza city where even basic amenities remain scarce.
Families have had to leave their shattered homes under the weight of rubble, under bombardments, and with the sounds of war machines echoing around them. They carry nothing with them—no food, no water, no blankets to shield them from the cold, no clothing to replace what they left behind. Infants, too, suffer from the lack of essentials like milk and diapers, while sick and elderly individuals endure these harsh conditions without access to medical support or comfort. Many are now sleeping on roadsides, playgrounds, and in any space they can find within Gaza city.
The mothers in particular are enduring unbearable suffering as they try to shield their children from the cold and deprivation, often with little more than makeshift shelters to protect them. They live with nothing more than hope, praying that aid will come, that warmth will find their children, and that some comfort will reach those left most vulnerable by this crisis.
As the community endures this relentless hardship, we turn to you, the compassionate people, for urgent support. Your donations, no matter how small, can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of these families. Contributions can provide:
- Winter clothing for protection against the cold
- Blankets and mattresses to sleep on
- Basic necessities like milk and diapers for infants
These families need our solidarity. Your generosity can help offer them a glimmer of hope and relief amidst such devastation. Please consider donating to help bring comfort and care to those who have lost so much. Let us come together to extend compassion and make a meaningful impact.
Thank you for standing with them. Every contribution counts.
The funds raised through this campaign will be sent to my cousin, Jalal Almoqayad, who will oversee the purchase of essential winter supplies. Since early 2024, Jalal and I have been working closely to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most. He leads a dedicated team of young people who have been tirelessly committed to distributing support directly to families in urgent need, bringing warmth and comfort to those enduring harsh conditions. Together, we are doing everything we can to make sure your generosity has a real and immediate impact.
