On the evening of July 20, 2025, our mother fell victim to domestic violence and aggravated assault at the hands of her former partner, Jose. She was punched, stabbed, and choked repeatedly by Jose. This violent incident culminated into Jose slitting her throat from one end to the other. Consequently, she lost a substantial amount of blood from her stab wounds.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors tended to her injuries including the aforementioned stab wounds and gastric volvulus (twisted stomach) resulting from the shock she experienced. Fortunately, our mom is a fighter, and she is making remarkable progress despite the serious injuries she sustained. However, since Jose was the head of household, our mom was left with various expenses including hospital bills, recurring domestic expenses, and food insecurities. As a single mom of two, she foresees challenging financial obstacles ahead.
