Dear Supporters,
My name is Danielle and I have had the honor and privilege of helping one of my best friends and his family during this past year and a half. Kareem is an orthopedic surgeon at Alaqsa hospital in Dier El Balah. He has continuously put his life on the line to serve his community and has gone above and beyond to be the sole financial supporter of his family. As aid is scarce and expensive in Gaza this gofundme is to help elliviate the financial burden of feeding and providing medical costs for his family. Here is a message from Kareem himself:
My dearest friends, my name is Abdelkareem, an emergency room physician at Al-Aqsa Hospital in the central Gaza Strip.
For nearly a year and a half, we have endured a relentless nightmare of war, a period etched with profound sorrow, crippling deprivation, and devastating loss.
This hardship is far-reaching; most here have lost their jobs and income, the government has crumbled, and the closure has driven prices to insane levels, making basic goods like water, food, gas for cooking, and even charging phones a constant fight.
Our homes, many damaged beyond repair, I carry the immense burden of my eight-member family, who share a small, cherished home in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, along with two additional families who have sought refuge with us, totaling 22 individuals.
our home has sustained significant damage, my father has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, and securing treatment within Gaza's ravaged healthcare system is agonizing. My brother Obada, a former lawyer, has been unemployed for a year and a half, struggling to provide for his three young children; my brother Mohammed has lost sight in his left eye and requires specialized care; and my brother Moad and his wife lost their apartment and now reside with us, also facing unemployment. My younger siblings, Ahmed and Zina, are of school age, but functioning schools are absent.
The exorbitant and insane prices here has left us utterly helpless, and we desperately need your help to care for our family and those we’ve taken in. Your support is a lifeline, and we pray for peace, a return to normalcy, and the chance to rebuild our lives. From the bottom of my heart, thank you; you are more than friends, you are family, a testament to the enduring power of human kindness in a world that often feels so dark. With heartfelt gratitude and all my love, Abdelkareem
