Hello everyone,

I am a teacher in Minnesota, writing with a heavy heart. Over the past several weeks, my school community has been deeply impacted by increased ICE activity. Our school has made national news multiple times as several of our families have been taken, leaving children and loved ones behind. The fear and trauma have been overwhelming.

I am reaching out today to ask for help for one family in particular. A father and husband was taken, leaving behind a mother and children. As you can imagine, their lives were instantly turned upside down. Due to fear of further enforcement actions, the family is currently afraid to leave their home, making it impossible to work or provide for basic necessities.

At this time, they urgently need assistance with rent and utilities to remain housed and safe. As well as lawyer fees to bring their father home. Any support you are able to provide—no matter how small—would make a meaningful difference during this incredibly difficult moment.

I (Morgan Bialke) created this fundraiser for one of my student’s family. These funds are directly going to her mom, Maria. We are working on setting up direct deposit but are having difficulties ensuring this money gets to mom. We are having difficulties with the GoFundMe website. Mom was listed as the beneficiary and will get these funds directly once transfers are unpaused. The funds will help with rent, utilities, and lawyer fees to further assist the father (who has followed all the necessary steps to be here and was unlawfully detained).
