Urgent Aid for Dolce's Medical Emergency

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Sophia Heidmann and I am asking for many prayers for Miss Dolce, my little sister Sienna’s dog. I am also asking for financial support for my little sister who works and is in school. Dolce swallowed a needle we believe on Saturday before prom (we didn’t know this until today). She started showing signs of being sick like flu, puking, fever, no energy, not eating, etc. Sienna began to get concerned when Dolce still wasn’t eating, had no energy, wasn’t walking, and wasn’t peeing. Sienna started calling vets around town to see who was on call and did an online consult. That vet said there was nothing to be alarmed about, that Dolce probably got into something, and to see how she’s doing in the morning. As 48 hours were coming around, Dolce still hadn’t peed, so Sienna brought Dolce into the vet ASAP when they opened today, Monday. They ran all the tests thinking she was sick, but the vet said if she wanted, they could do X-RAYS. Thank God she did, and they saw a needle in her esophagus. The Animal Care Center said we needed to get down to the Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota ASAP to do an Emergent Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).

Otherwise, they will have to open her up, which would be major surgery and cost $$,$$$

Sadly, tonight (April 27th at 11 pm-ish), we found out the (EGD) first attempt was unsuccessful, and the vet said:

"Hi, my name is Dr. Corey Fitch, and I am one of the intravenous doctors here at AERC calling with an update on Dolce. We were able to accomplish her endoscopy or school procedure and just to describe what we saw when we were getting ready to put in her breathing tube for anesthesia. We did note a black string that was coming from the very beginning of the esophagus just at the end of her mouth, and we were able to follow that down her esophagus to where it buries into the very end of the esophagus, which I suspect is the needle unfortunately going through the esophagus into the chest because we can see the heart just behind that, just beating. It’s something we don't want to pull without more information, acknowledging we don't know what that needle has perforated or moved through outside of the esophagus. So, unfortunately, we were not able to remove it, but we know it's probably outside of the esophagus, and we need further information to pull it safely. I will say the rest of the esophagus and the stomach look good, no signs of ulcers or tumors or other foreign material. I hope that we can coordinate some sort of imaging noninvasively and potentially even try to pull this with a little bit of sedation tomorrow to avoid needing big surgeries within the chest. I hope we're going to have a recovery here. Hang in the ICU here overnight with some pain meds and just fasting her. I hope we will have a clear picture with our radiology team in the morning about what's the next big step, in which case we can call you and go over those options here hopefully shortly. I will be leaving the hospital here soon. If you have any questions regarding the procedure or her recovery, certainly don't hesitate to call. My hope is to relax and rest. I will hold her off of food for a little bit longer and hope that we can give you more information here in the morning. Any questions."

Please, our family asks for your prayers most of all for Dolce and Sienna. Anything helps Sienna with the financial pressures of missed work and vet bills adding up fast. If you know Sienna, she has the biggest heart of gold and is the best dog mom ❤️

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this! I will keep you posted with updates tomorrow as we get them.
