Northen Cebu was recently struck by a devastating 6.9 earthquake and my mom’s hometown, Daanbantayan Cebu was not spared. While I am here in the US, relatives and people in Daanbantayan are facing the aftermath - homes destroyed, churches collapsed, and communities left with urgent needs. Currently, people are camping out using tarps as their homes are either in danger of collapsing or has fell apart.
This is deeply personal to me. I had just visited Maya last December and saw how vibrant and resilient the community was.
To know that they are once again suffering breaks my heart. This will mean so much to me, my family, and everyone from Daanbantayan.
This same town was also one of those hardest hit by Typhoon Yolanda years ago. Just as they had begun to rebuild their lives and enjoy then, they are now struck again.
Relief operations are currently focused on nearby Bogo City, which leaves Daanbantayan and the surrounding barangays struggling for support.
Right now, the people in Daanbantayan need drinking water, food, tarps, and essentials to help them survive and recover.
My family and I, even from afar, are committed to making sure donations directly reach the community - just as we have done in the past during Yolanda relief efforts.
Any amount you can give will go a long way. Together, we can help families get back on their feet and remind them they are not forgotten.
Thank you so much for your kindness, prayers, and generosity.
