So, I have metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma, which means that I had cancer in my colon that metastasized and spread very rapidly to my liver and then a very small part to my lungs. The lungs are only two nodules of cancer, but my liver is completely and totally shot. They say that only 15% of people with this cancer make it to 5 years, and the doctor was very forthright and said that with how rapidly this spread, I am probably not going to be one of the lucky 15%.
But I will be getting a transfusion of chemo at some point either tomorrow or the day after, and depending on how I respond to that will determine my next steps. Actually, correct that, I'll actually be receiving the port line that goes from my chest directly to my heart to administer the chemo, and that will be done today. And then after that is in place, I believe they will be scheduling my first chemo, which again should be maybe later today, but most likely tomorrow.
At this point, I do have a little bit of vacation time left. I do not have those little short-term disability packages that they offer at some places where you can get a percentage of your pay for a little bit longer than normal. So, I'm going to be filling out paperwork to receive disability funds if possible. But I am hoping to have a small amount provided to me, hopefully by raising these funds here so that I can support myself for that period of time where I will have no income, no disability, and quite possibly no way to even obtain my prescriptions. I will be trying to reach a caseworker while I'm here admitted to the hospital, but I cannot guarantee that they will be able to provide enough support that I will be able to have something available to me before I leave here.
If you have read this far, and you care anywhere near enough to read this, I greatly appreciate your time and your desire to at least consider helping me out. Thank you again for your time and your consideration. If this does go over the initial amount, any additional funds will be used to fund my ability to be comfortable during this time. Only 15% of people with this form of cancer make it to 5 years. And, with the number of lesions that are on my liver at this point, I do not have a clean spot that does not have a lesion. Thank you again for any consideration or assistance that you are willing to provide, even if it's the smallest amount you can give. I appreciate every little bit of it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
