Bubba is a 9-year-old cat who is so sweet and calm and loves to go outside for a nice afternoon nap. On his way inside in the later evening, his tail was accidentally caught in the door by a child who didn’t mean to. Unfortunately, his tail suffered enough damage to require amputation at the tip of the tail. After a vet visit, 18 phone calls to 18 locations, many voicemails, and hours of independent research, the lowest cost for amputation is $1600. Unfortunately, Bubba has a teacher mom who doesn’t even make that as her net income for one paycheck. There is urgency in getting him surgery so he does not suffer an infection or develop chronic conditions that could drastically affect his health. Any support or share of this is greatly appreciated to help Bubba get the surgery and medicine he needs.
At the vet this morning I was quoted on a higher end of $3500 to $4000 which with further research I was told it can be done for half of that. At the vet the surgery cost prior to x ray costs and anesthesia was $2,900 alone. I am in contact with low cost clinics and they have been so gracious to say low end $1600 high end $2400 (uncertain prior to blood work if there will be more costs involved due to health).
UPDATE: I scheduled Bubba at a clinic in Carrollwood which will be able to treat Bubba for at most $1000. I adjusted the amount to best reflect the goal. I am grateful to be in contact with a practice that can treat him.
