Urgent Aid for Ate M's Health and Freedom
Donation protected
Ate “M” is a Filipina migrant worker based in California who is currently detained at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington. Born in the Philippines, Ate M left her family to come to the United States to find work and obtain her greencard. She is a mother balancing two jobs to provide for her family. Her court date is set for the end of April - let’s show her the world is standing with her and fighting for her freedom!
Ate M has a benign tumor. She is experiencing migraines everyday and is unable to sleep. Her and other detained migrants are deprived of basic needs, having to wait long periods of time between meals that are often undercooked. She has been denied access to her medication and her requests to see a doctor have been delayed despite the immediate medical attention Ate M needs. The longer she is inside the NWDC, the harder the toll on her physical and mental health.
Since Ate M has been unable to work, M has no income for legal fees or housing costs while inside. She also needs commissary support to stay in touch with the outside world and access basic goods. We’re raising 10k to cover these expenses and ensure she can hire a lawyer to represent her.
