Well, here we are. The "spare kids," "Davidson Commune, part II" are losing our housing through no fault of our own. We have until October 1st to find a place. We need a house with 3 bedrooms. We can't afford a lot, of course, and Mama is in a financial crisis right now. My heart will have to somehow chip in to pay for rent and utilities.

The commune started last year, with older teens tagging along with my generous son. They had no homes, for a variety of reasons, and Hugh thought they should live with me as "House Mother." I couldn't bear to see these kids trying to find a couch for the night, nor a safe parking spot to park.

So now I'm Mom to the world and even have a "spare granddaughter," born to two who "graduated."

These kids give my life energy, and they take care of me in many ways. They will of course all leave one day, but for now, knowing they have a safe, dry, warm or cool place to sleep, a kitchen in which to cook, and a shower we have to stand in line for means the world to me.

We need help. I'm not throwing these kids away. They've had enough heartache. Will you help? Please?
