Urban Wildlife Response, Rescue and Education

Donation protected
As many of you know, I do urban wildlife response for critters in distress, particularly birds. I also respond to dead birds and Coyotes for liver toxicology tests. This is important as we continue to build a database of wild animals poisoned by pesticides. I often scan neighborhoods for dead rats and examine their stomach contents to determine manner of death, and by which poison. Then I properly dispose of them so they don't secondarily poison another animal, bird or pet.

Animals/birds not poisoned (car or window strike, electrocution etc) I remove from their hazardous scenarios so they are not scavenged (if it would secondarily endanger other animals or birds who scavenge)

I am available 24/7 for any wildlife question, conversation, or home assessment.

This past year I have become a referral for multiple organizations, which has increased my response and time in the field greatly.

This volunteer service entails a phone assessment, driving to site where animal is, assessing the situation, capturing the animal if necessary, and transporting it to a rehab facility or SAS. If after hours - it overnights with me and is turned over within 24 hours. I also include community education, media coverage if needed, and solutions.

There are no rehab facilities anywhere near Seattle; each transport and assessment can take up to 4 hours round trip.

I also respond to sick or dead birds that are infected with HPAI, or Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. (H591)

Looking for a few folks who value this service, to help me cover transportation costs as well as a few supplies like (gas, nets, Kevlar gloves, scalpel blades, disposal bags, sanitation supplies, towels, PPE etc)

Most of the time rehab centers and animal control either can't, or won't come out, and without this service the animals can't get the help they need.

I have an intensive animal first aid certification, and an "off the grid" certification for backcountry first - response, as well as many credit hours with the Washington Wildlife Rehabbers Association and over 300 hours in field.
