Urban Roots is a non-profit organization which focuses on two things: using vacant city spaces to produce food, and strengthening community connections.
We believe that the roots of our community and the roots of our food grow best when they grow together.
We are committed to organic growing practices and using local food waste for compost.
Our six directors are: Jeremy Horrell, Richard Bloomfield, Graham Bracken, Jacob Damstra, Wendy Russell, and Heather Bracken.
Our second season is upon us! We're so excited to launch and will be growing in SIX times the space we did last year! In addition to expanding our growing space, we've expanded our volunteer base and are ready to tackle a new season full of new challenges.
Our fundraising efforts last season left us with sufficient finances to cover our monthly insurance payments, in addition to a significant portion of this season's expenses. We are still, however, in need of support for tools and supplies that will help optimize our volunteer's time.
