Urban Revival is a non-profit outreach organization whose focus is to impact urban America with the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a message that is uncompromising, relevant and relatable for today's urban culture. Urban Revival also shows the love of Christ by providing resources, to area residents, such as food, clothing, school supplies, diapers, and haircuts. Our purpose is threefold:
- To focus on brining the gospel to the inner city with messages that are relevant to today's culture, through spoken word, gospel, rap, drama, dance (the performing arts) and preaching.
- To make available resources to those who attend like clothing, diapers and food.
- Most importantly, to win souls and introduce them to local churches.
Our current goal is to finish paying for our mobile stage (attached below). In the past, we rented a city stage to host our events. A few years ago, our founder made the leap of faith to purchase one not only to host Urban Revival events, but to be of service to other local ministries.
Our founder Eugene Peterson Jr. was born in New York City and raised in Charleston County, South Carolina. He moved to Greensboro, NC in 1983 to attend North Carolina A&T State University. In 1987 his life took a turn when he became addicted to crack cocaine for four years. He became free from alcohol and drug addiction when he gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1992. In 1994 he married Erika Smith Peterson and they have four children. He's a graduate of Evangel Bible College with an Associates degree in biblical studies. In 2010 he founded Urban Revival.
