Urban Renaissance Academy 2021-2022 Fundraiser

My name is Ms. Sara. Founder and Lead Teacher at Urban Renaissance Academy & Microschool. The FIRST MICRO-SCHOOL IN CENTRAL FLORIDA! THE FIRST BLACK MICRO-SCHOOL IN FLORIDA.  I am an extremely passionate educator who is on a mission to save our black & brown kids through education. I’ve faced many, many, many obstacles in my life and overcame adversity. Success was always an option for me and I kept God at the center of everything. I had to start by doing what was necessary, and then I did what’s possible, and now I’m doing the IMPOSSIBLE! I am my ancestors wildest dreams. ✊

Many have asked what is a Micro-school. It refers to a new movement in alternative education to re-invent the one-room school house. Classes are smaller and multi-aged. Micro-schools offer students smaller and a more personalized pathway for learning. There is a crisis going on with the education in our community. There is an urgent need for something different for our children. Micro-schools hold so much promise. Kids today learn, comprehend, and work in ways that are unsuited with the way public schools are set up. I’m beginning this movement because kids deserve schools & educators that can adapt to what they want and need to thrive as learners. I specialize in K-2nd grade because I want to set a strong foundation so that children can excel in grades 3rd-12th. Studies shows that if a child doesn’t have a strong academic foundation by the time they reach 3rd grade, then chances are they could perform poorly from 3rd grade and on. And to be honest, I am TIRED of seeing our black and brown babies behind in education. It breaks my heart. So I’ve made a commitment to be part of the SOLUTION and not just talk about the problem. 

I’m telling you right now, this movement is the new way of schooling your children. I try to be 10 steps ahead and you may not hear a lot about micro-schools or understand my mission now but I’m already in the future. 5-10 years from now micro-schools will take over and U.R.A will be a model school for many across the nation. ☺️

I am doing a fundraiser because I would like to offset some of the cost throughout the school year. I am built my school from ground up. I’ve invested so much of my time and money into this. It would mean the world to me if the community can come together and help support a great cause. Funds will be used for Ipads/laptops for kids, supplies, school trip, etc. I want to be able to give my kids the very best of everything.
