Urban Earth Nursery, Fremont's only indoor-outdoor garden center since 1997, will be closing its doors at the end of October. Our property management company has sold our plot of land to be converted into demolition vehicle parking for a development company building condominiums in the adjoining lot.

The employees of Urban Earth are not only grieving the loss of our beloved home and community, but are also now grappling with the loss of income that this change has caused, including losing the company-sponsored health insurance that Urban Earth provided to all its year-round staff. We are hoping to raise some money to provide a cushion for our retail staff as they search for new full-time employment. This money will go directly to the shop staff, and will help cover living expenses until they can find a new stable income source.

We at Urban Earth thank our community with all our hearts for the generosity (both material and interpersonal) they have shown us over our nearly three decades in Fremont. Any small amount you can give to help our staff now will be deeply valued.
