Urban Art Farm - Renovation Project

My name is Walker Fisher. I am born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area  -- and I want you to help me save an arts space today!

The Urban Art Farm empowers artists and makers to explore the intersection of art, dance, and technology.

9,000 sq. ft. of infrastructure to play with curiousity, the strange, and the weirdly beautiful in Potrero Hill.

PROBLEM WORTH SOLVING:
Growing at a pivotal time in San Francisco's rapidly changing landscape, the Urban Art Farm responds to the call to action for up-to-code arts and cultural incubators.

OUR SOLUTION:
We will remove the barrier to entry and renovate an industrial arts and cultural infrastructure for San Francisco. Once open, we'll invite the city and star travelers to explore multimedia experiential events and creative making.

Together we can figure out why being human is so special!

The Urban Art Farm is guided by principals of radical inclusion, participation, equity, creativity, self-determination, and responsibility.

Funds raised will support:
- Commercial Grade Fire Systems, Exit Doors & Frames
   $6,000
- Up to Code Electrical & Plumbing Renovations
   $8,000
- Lighting & Sound Equipment
   $3,500
- Painting Supplies and Materials
   $2,500
- Green Screen & Marley Floor Installment
   $1,800
- Transitioning 8 Makers-in-Residence
    into Below Market Rate Studios
   $5,000

DIRECT IMPACT:

The results of these renovations will be 9,000 square feet in San Francisco that are up to code for general assembly in the name of art and culture.

The sprung dance floor will be available for use; a 1,500 sq. ft. common space for skill-sharing, movement workshops, dance classes, filming, photography, and community events.

Studio spaces will have proper electrical wiring for optimal lighting conditions and creative power supply with zero chance for fires!

Facility upgrades will provide up to code sprinklers and ventilation, plus plumbing for makers and their guests' use of the four bathrooms. Commercial grade fire code doors at all seven  points of egress will permit city approved and safe general assembly.

Public programming includes immersive shows produced by the makers-in-residence that will have donation based admission.

The shared values that guide us are:

Radical Inclusion – We proactively invite a diverse spectrum of participants to play who come from all walks of life
Participation – Everyone has a creative ability that can be cultivated at the Urban Art Farm. The invitation to participate should be active and intentional, while culturally sensitive
Equity – Increase accessibility by deconstructing barriers to entry by leaving the barn door open!
Creative Rights – All sentient beings have expressive autonomy
Self-Determination – Manifest destiny is the intention of co-creative collaboration.
Responsibility – Those in leadership roles need to take responsibility for others, and to create and hold a safe space in which they can live, work, and create.
Compassion – empathy, empathy, and empathy!
