Half Marathon For Bowel Cancer
Two years ago I ran the Cardiff half marathon with my dad, in aid of Bowel Cancer UK. It was the most amazing day and most amazing feeling achieving this with my dad. The day after we ran the race my dad underwent major surgery to have part of his liver removed. This was the second time he’d had major surgery, the first, was to remove part of his bowel and have a temporary stoma. Less than a year later he had another section of his liver removed. If he’s not having operations or some sort of radiotherapy, he’s on chemotherapy, and we’ve lost count on how many cycles he’s had. Cancer is tough on all members of our family. We are 9 years into our journey and still fighting.
My dad is the most amazing human I know. His positivity shines through despite everything that has been thrown at us as a family. My dad loves running but due to his ongoing treatment has not been able to do it. Therefore, I want to run this for him and make him proud like he makes us all proud every single day with his determination to fight cancer. I am trying to spread awareness and raise money for other people struggling . It is important to catch this nasty disease early , every penny counts and it would mean so much for any support in this race .
