What a year January 2025 has been!!!!!
On January 30 Austins life changed forever when a man ran a stop sign and t-boned him on his motorcycle. Austin was ejected from his bike thankfully wearing all the right protective gear, however the impact from the crash left him missing a limb, from the shin down on his left leg was amputated, 5 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he spent 11 days in the ICU, underwent 3 surgeries within 48 hours and countless treatments not including the ones to come. He finally got to come home Monday to be in the comfort of his own bed, but he has a lifetime of recovery left! Between learning how to walk again when he is healed and a lifetime of new prosthetics as he goes through life. Not to mention the mental battle going on in his head that those of us who haven’t lost a limb will never understand. It breaks my heart to hear in his voice that he just wants to get up and move fast and do things for himself that he is so used to doing, all due to the negligence of one single person. But he is so strong and fighting so hard to heal so he can get back to doing the things he loves. He is so ready to do the first family fishing trip we had planned the weekend of the accident, and to just be able to get out of the house and interact with people again. I know he would move mountains for me if the roles were reversed and I am going to do the same for him! I know money will NOT bring back his leg or his normal way of life, but it will at least give him peace of mind knowing he won’t have to pay for this accident for the rest of his life (that wasn’t even his fault), because that’s the way its looking right now. Please, if ANYONE can help Austin in the slightest way I have created a CashApp account to try to help cover a portion of his medical bills. I have chosen a CashApp account over a GoFundMe because GoFundMe takes a portion of every donation submitted, and he needs ALL the help he can get!
Our family is beyond grateful for the community that continues to surround us with love and prayers as we all, as a family, go through this extremely traumatic month! I know it means the world to Austin to know how much support he has and to know how many people love him. I am so very thankful that my big brother is still alive, and I can still annoy him for the rest of our lives!!! I am so thankful that my parents didn’t have to burry their baby at 30 years old because a man decided his bank trip was more important than someone’s life after his family begged him not to drive! I am so thankful that my big brother is such a fighter and an inspiration to my son to get up everyday and keep going no matter what the situation! I love you soooooo much Austin Boston! (I had to throw that in there from Granny)
