What started as a normal day quickly turned into one we’ll never forget.
On the 26th of October, we loaded up the horsebox for a Spooky Showjumping event - costumes ready, spirits high, and all of our tack and equipment carefully packed. Years of hard work and saving had gone into building our collection, piece by piece, for both ourselves and our horses.
But everything changed in an instant.
Not long after leaving the motorway, smoke began to fill the cab. The engine cut out, and within seconds, thick black smoke was pouring through the horsebox. Our only thought was for the horses. They are our partners and our best friends - nothing else mattered but getting them to safety. Through the smoke and chaos, we managed to get both horses off the box safely.
Moments later, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire brigade arrived quickly, but by then, it was too late. They told us nothing could be saved. In just minutes, everything we owned, every saddle, bridle, helmet, was reduced to ashes.
Now, as the shock begins to fade, the reality is setting in. We’ve lost not just our tack and equipment, but years of dedication and love invested in our horses and our journey together.
We’re determined to start again, to rebuild what was lost, and to get back in the saddle with Bertha and Hunter. Any help, no matter how small, will make a huge difference as we work to replace our saddles, bridles, body protectors, helmets, and show gear.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give - it truly means the world to us.
