Dylan's Fight

Donation protected
On Tuesday, April 30th, the unimaginable happened and a families whole world came to a screeching halt. Curtis and Kathleen Deobalds son Dylan was in a horrific truck accident not far from his home. Dylan, who is a 16-year-old fun loving, energetic, courageous, young man who loves being outside on his dirt bike and riding his quad with his sister Faith and his many friends, is now laying in a hospital bed in the ICU in Kelowna, with both parents who have not left his side. Dylan's injuries are extensive to his head, face, and chest. Dylan is awaiting an MRI to hopefully give some more answer as to the full extent of his injuries as Dylan's left side is unresponsive. He has pretty severe head/brain trauma with multiple breaks to his face. Dylan's T12 vertebrae is fractured as well as his shoulder blade is broken in 3 places.
Thursday morning, they took Dylan off the ventilator, and he is able to breathe on his own. Dylan also opened his eyes and shook his head yes when asked if his name is Dylan. Kathleen said it was heartbreaking as he tried saying help, so she asked if he was in pain and if he was to put his thumb up which he did.
Last night, he took half a step back and has been put on oxygen to help him breathe and humidity to help him excrete the build up in his lungs. They are watching his heart closely.
His chest took a lot of the impact.
As a parent when your whole heart is laying in a hospital bed and you can't fix them, a numbness takes over your body as you must trust those who have gone to school to do so. It is the most helpless feeling in the world.
It is going to be a long road ahead of them where either one, or both parents will have to be at Dylan's side. We are asking you today, if you are able, to please help take some of the financial burden and worry off these parents so they can focus on their son Dylan and their daughter Faith.
If you would like Kathleen's email directly please reach out and let us know. We are more than happy to provide it.
Thank you so much,
Patti and Tamara
