Hello everyone,
My name is Thu Nguyen, and I need your help to continue living in America. I came to this county from Vietnam in 2016, as an international student, in the hopes of bettering my life. I've always admired and believed in the concept of the American dream- that with hard work and a lot of effort, anything you set your mind to is possible. With that in mind, I studied hard and last spring I graduated summa cum laude from California State University East Bay's Registered Nursing program, earning myself a Bachelor's degree.
Since I'm a foreigner and my student visa was due to expire, I needed to secure a job with a company/agency that would sponsor me. That way, I would be able to work and aquire a green card to become a permanent US resident. Luckily, after graduating and passing my board exams, I was able to find an agency that would provide a job for me and help me with the immigration process.
Unfortunately, my working permit is due to expire in July, and after consulting with a lawyer, I was advised to go back to my country and wait for the visa process to take effect. This carries several risks and there is no guarantee that it will work. I might not be able to come back to the States anymore, and everything that I worked so hard for will be for nothing.
I’ve been so worried since I got the news. As a foreigner living alone in the States, I always have to try my best in either school or work to be able to remain here. However, luck doesn’t always go along with effort and hard work.
I have consulted different lawyers to find the best solution for my case. There is a possible way that they came up with, but I need to cancel the contract that I have with the agency. This would require me to pay the penalty fee of $25,000. I've tried pleading with the agency to reduce the amount, and the most that they are willing to lower it to is $15,000, which I don't have.
I currently have almost $5,000 and am asking for your kindness and support in earning the remaining $10,000. Please help me through this challenging situation so that I can continue to stay in the United States, improve my life, and achieve my American dream.
