Hi everyone! My name is Tulip. I am a 7-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who needs surgery to cure my cancer!
It all started in February, when my old parents tied me outside the shelter on a cold winter day. I forgive them though because it led me to my forever home with my new human Camila. I love her very much and soon she is going to be my very own Vegetarian...or Vegetenarian..or something like that (I have a hard time pronouncing it. She does too. Shhhh ;)
She drove me home, bathed and fed me, and gave me a warm toasty bed. But, that same day, I pee-peed my bed; I drink lots of water all the time and sometimes I can't hold it. I was so scared she would yell at me but instead, she re-decorated the apartment with pee-pee pads and even wakes up in the middle of the night to walk me. That’s when the visits to the Vegetenarians started. They treated my heartworms and ran lots of tests but nothing explained my obsession with water.
One day, on “Bring your doggy to work day" they figured it out! At the UF Vegetenarian school they gave me a tummy massage with an ultrasound. It was nice. But, when they finished my mom was really sad. I tried to cheer her up by giving her kisses and wiggling my bum, but that didn’t help like it usually does.
The doctors say I have a Pheochromocytoma, or how the great Schwarzenegger says, “It’s a Tuma.” It is in my left adrenal gland, the tiny organ that secretes adrenaline. They say surgery is difficult but will cure me!! The only problem is that the surgery is very expensive: $4,000-5000!!!
So now it is MY turn to help my human! Could you help me? I appreciate any little bit, it would mean the world to me and my momma!!
Thank you very much for reading my story. Please share it with your friends. Promise I will keep you updated on my progress!
Lots of tail wags and kisses.

**$4,000-5,000 is the estimate given for the evaluation with the Surgical oncologist, CT scan, blood work, Blood typing and cross –matching, surgery, hospitalization, and medications. If any money were to remain, it will be donated to “Helping Hands Rescue Group”, a great organization who finds loving homes to thousands of animals every year in Gainesville, Florida, including Tulip!!!***
