Thank you Friends for your interest. My name is Victoria, I am the proud mother of one remarkable and spirtited four year old boy. I am almost a survivor of Domestic Abuse. In 2012, I began the long process of leaving my abuser. With great support, guidance, and love of family friends, I was able to leave an incredibly hostile and controling situation for myself and my son. After an epic battle in divorce and custody court that followed, and despite many cruel tactics both in and out of court, I fought tooth and nail to ramain in coparenting status and remain a central focus in my son's life despite incredible obstacles. Unfortunately the court process left me financially and emotionally drained and despite all the hard work, love and determination, the outcome was not as hopeful asI had wished and my legal council, the police, and the court system itself proved somewhat limited in what they could do in terms of keeping the abuse from continuing.
As any mother/survivor would, my determination only grew more focused and I took on the three jobs, working days and nights, to pay off the $27,000 in legal costs. By the grace of God nearly have it paid off within a three year period. However despite what legal ground i had set in place, abuse does not end when the marriage is over, and his attempts to control, manipulate, isolate, and deny court order mandates, only continues.
For any one who has ever loved a child, for anyone who has had to fight for your most basic rights as a mother, you might know the pain and also the mother tiger like focus that comes into play when fighting for who and what we love and I grew only more determined to insure the courts grant me my legal rights.
Despite monitary obstacles, and no longer having the ability to maintain costs for representation, I again faced the courts myself, after an attack from my abuser, and was able to turn the courts legally in my favor. New evidence of ongoing abuse were finally taken into concideration, and our entire custody case is now under review and I find myself for the first time having the upperhand against misconduct. I am thrilled but notablea little scared about the challenges this opportunity has granted me.
What I need now is a lawyer. As the judge in my case told me "you have the fight, the tenacity, and a solid case in your favor, what you need now is representation".
I am asking today for your support to bring justice back to a broke system and to gain an equal playing field with my son's father and a flawed court system. I am more determined than ever that things will come to justice, however as a single mother working two part time jobs and having gone through two years of financial reversals, I am asking you today to contribute to my fund to retain a lawyer. I have 21 days to do so and I am asking only for a $2,000 goal to assure we will not be thwarted again by the sytem.
If you are able to contribute in any way, a $5 dollar pledge, a loose $20 in your back pocket, you have absolutely no idea what an incredible controbution that would be.
I thank you and I ask you for your continued support. There is no love greater than that of a mother. Please help me in my fight and the fight of many in my situation for basic Mother's rights and an end to abuse.
Any or all controbutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so, so much, for your support. God bless you and hug those whom you love. Love is stronger than anything.
Thank you,
Victoria
