On June 3rd, an unfortunate event at 3rd base of a Little League Baseball game was the start of a family's life being turned upside down.
Benjamin Wilkinson, who is 8 years old, was stepped on by a base runner. Less than two months later, that same 8-year-old boy will be starting his first round of chemotherapy treatment after the incident led to the discovery of BCOR sarcoma in his left femur.
For the next 6-9 months, Benjamin will be in and out of the hospital for chemotherapy treatments, surgery, and physical therapy. He and his family will have to change their current lives, focusing more on medical appointments, new works schedules, and battling the fatigue and nausea that comes with the cancer treatments.
The Wilkinsons have set up a Caring Bridge site. For those interested, please visit and follow their page at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/benjaminwilkinson. There, you will find pictures, updates, and ways to connect.
That day in June was unfortunate, but it did allow the doctors and medical staff to find the cancer early. The treatment plan ahead is promising, and the doctors are remaining very confident. Because of this positivity and your love, support, and prayers, Benjamin and his family are ready to fight...and WIN!
