Help Rebecca Rebuild

Last Saturday, Rebecca was working at home when the electric Ryobi riding lawnmower on the porch ignited and started a house fire. Fortunately she saw the billowing black smoke and was able to grab her phone and get herself and the dogs to safety, but all other belongings were left inside.

 

Four fire trucks arrived within minutes, but the fire had taken hold in the attic and despite their best efforts it spread to the upstairs rooms. Her goats panicked and hid in their shelter against the house through most of the duration of the fire (an emergency responder chased them out but they ran back in). The chickens fled to the far corner of the yard, and so far the animals seem to have escaped the smoke and heat unharmed.

 

The complete extent of the damage will take weeks to determine, but it's clear that the house structure is compromised and most of the contents were destroyed. Her children had things stored there as well, including her daughter's wedding dress and supplies for the upcoming wedding.

Rebecca does have homeowner's insurance, but it's unlikely this will cover the full cost of rebuilding and replacing the contents. Prices for building materials have skyrocketed, and between Rebecca and her children, there were over ten thousand books in the house which will be very difficult to replace.

 

Her sister, Sherilyn, has arrived from Taiwan to help her dig through the rubble and ashes to see what can be saved. We would appreciate your prayers for this extensive rebuilding process, and for favor with the insurance company. Any funds that are given will be shared among the family to help us replace the most valuable/sentimental items.
