Olga's Fight Against Cancer

Life changes in a blink of an eye and the unfortunate happens to good people, but never did I think I would be saying this about my dear friend Olga Regep. As hard as it is to write and even harder to say aloud, Olga has been diagnosed with Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. The mass is primarily in her chest, which is pushing on her heart and other nearby organs. As you can imagine, anyone that learns this news and loves Olga is absolutely shattered. Naturally, one of the first thoughts that comes to mind is how can I possibly help and make this terrible news just a slight bit better. There is something that can be done and that is to relieve her family of an enormous financial burden that comes with this horrifying diagnosis.

Olga and her husband Ray have been happily married for three years. Last May, they welcomed their daughter Savannah into this world and Olga went on maternity leave. Due to her extended leave, Olga, Ray and Savannah have been living on one income and have very limited health insurance coverage. Never did they think that they would need disability and health coverage as much as they do now. Olga was scheduled to return to work in September 2017, regain health insurance coverage and place Savannah in a daycare. Given the circumstance, that is impossible. The Regep family is currently under minimal health insurance coverage and will not be sending Savannah to daycare as it is financially impossible and extremely dangerous for Olga to be around any illnesses and/or germs while she undergoes treatment. Olga, a new mother, will need to undergo extensive chemotherapy treatments over the next 6 months, all while caring for her toddler while her husband puts in extra hours at work to cover medical bills.

I have known Olga since childhood and can confidently say that she is a very strong person. At the age of 33, she has already overcome more things than most people do in a lifetime without asking for help, but even the strongest people need help once in a while and this is one of those times. With the abundance of expenses that this family has been burdened with, they can really use the help of their family and friends. Their past, current and future expenses include diagnostic testing, surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, medical equipment, medications, doctor visits and there may very well be more.
