Uprooted Ranch Fundraiser

Uprooted is a passion project formed in 2018 by chef/ founders Andy Doubrava and Tiffani Ortiz. With a combined 25 years of professional experience, the two developed a curiosity and appreciation for sustainable farming. With the help of WWOOF, an online forum dedicated to connecting volunteers with organic farms and ranches across the globe, Doubrava and Ortiz set off on a cross-country journey to familiarize themselves with biodynamic farming and closed-loop cooking practices.

Doubrava later put his newfound appreciation for farmers and growers into action as Executive Chef at Michelin-starred restaurant Rustic Canyon. At the same time, Ortiz expanded on her gained experience as a farm and hospitality manager at Malibu Orchards and later competed as a finalist on Food Network's "Chopped." after years of developing Uprooted's guerilla-style food experiences nationwide.

Our goal is to raise money to help fund an inclusive communal space emphasizing doing things the right way. We are looking for a piece of land to implement sustainable and biodynamic growing practices

Our 5-step
Project Process:

Step one:
Funding-Through crowdfunding platforms, fundraising, and partnerships, we aim to meet our financial goal for acquiring specifically-permitted land capable of housing not only our agricultural vision but also projects further down the line. This will include but not be limited to dining experiences, temporary housing structures, event spaces, and so much more.

Step two:
Permitting/ Construction/Planning- We aim to work closely with our local representatives, builders, and agricultural consultants to begin mapping out the most ethical and environmentally responsible approach to how to best utilize the land and its structures to achieve carbon negativity.

Step three:
Design- Here comes the fun part, or at least we think it is! To ensure we meet our future goal of a minimal impact on the surrounding flora and fauna, we plan to implement various solar enhanced designs into all of our structures and irrigation systems.

Step four:
Sourcing- From seeds to plate ware, always striving to source locally, we plan on doing our part to be a part of and stimulate our local economy. Saying no to big ag and corporations that don't share our beliefs in people over profit is at the very heart of our fundamentals.

Step five:
Staffing/Opening- All good things come in time, and although we hope the time between breaking ground and opening is swift and exciting, we realize from previous experience that that is not always the case. The world is constantly changing; we plan to change with it; that means doing things the right way, not the easy way. Our collective goal from start to finish is expected to take 1-3 years, allowing us the extra time necessary to address every aspect of the business mindfully and responsibly.

The Donation-

We need your help! With a large-scale project, such as "The Ranch at Uprooted", it is easy to get lost along the way. The more investors we take on, the less likely the likelihood of staying true to our vision of 'people and planet over profit'. For this reason, we turn to you, our family, friends, followers, coworkers, peers and neighbors. With a combined social media following of over 40,000 people, we could meet our financial goal with a recommended donation of $30 from each of you. We understand that this isn't possible for everyone, especially with many out of work. A donation of any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated; however, sharing, networking, and being our advocate amongst your friends and community is more helpful than you'd ever know. Thank you, we look forward to being a part of something more significant with you.
