David Musgrove Upper Ojai SAR Team Member Injured
Donation protected
The Upper Ojai Search and Rescue Team is encouraging its supporters to help our team member David Musgrove by making a donation to the Go Fund Me established to assist him. David was seriously injured in a head-on collision on February 21st en route to our monthly team meeting at our base station in Upper Ojai. He is a decorated 20 year veteran of the rescue unit and a team officer.
An oncoming driver crossed over the double yellows lines on Highway 150 just West of Santa Paula demolishing his vehicle. David sustained major injuries including a shattered left ankle which will require multiple surgeries. In addition, he had a sternum fracture ( resulting in a bruised heart muscle ) and a fracture of a vertebrae in his neck. Thankfully, he was in a sturdy vehicle with airbags, which explains how he survived. Fellow team members who were heading to the same meeting were on scene within seconds. He was promptly attended to by the Ventura County Fire Department and transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for a week of hospitalization. We are optimistic he will make a full recovery.
David has spent the last 30 years as a licensed physical therapist caring for others. This work combined with the incredible dedication and bravery he has showed on the rescue team is emblematic of the kind of person he is. After years of caring for others we encourage the community to step up and help him recover.
David will be unable to resume the physically demanding work of administering physical therapy for at least 5 months. The goal is help defray his medical and living expenses as he and his wife Lisa go through his recovery. Any donations to assist him in this process are welcome. One hundred percent of all funds raised will be paid directly to David through this site.
