What is Black and Proud?

Hi, my name is Jasmine Mincey, and I’m a Black queer creative based in Minneapolis. I’ve written a new original musical called Black and Proud — and with your help, we’re bringing it to the stage for the first time this summer!

Black and Proud tells the stories of eight LGBTQ+ characters, each representing a letter in LGBTQ, as they navigate identity, love, discrimination, faith, and family — all while being unapologetically Black and queer in modern-day America.

It’s real. It’s raw. It’s inspiring. And it's long overdue.

Our Goal: $5,000

We’re raising funds to launch a staged reading and concert-style performance this summer.
