Jay was first diagnosed with leukemia January 17, 2014, when he was six years old. He did not go into remission with the first rounds of chemo and was entered into a clinical trial. The experimental chemo got him into remission but side effects also put him on life support for 3 days. He eventually recovered but relapsed while still in active treatment. He had a bone marrow transplant in January of 2017. Just prior to the transplant he was battling a fungal infection in his bones that led to the amputation of his left arm at the shoulder. After his transplant he had fluid around his heart and spent 4 days in the cardiac ICU. It took over a year of being in-patient but Jay finally recovered enough to go home. Jay spent the last 8 years rebuilding and creating a wonderful life for himself. He graduate high school with honors, has a job at the special needs camp his mom is the director of, and has a wonderful girlfriend of over a year.
Unfortunately, Jay is back in the hospital after having a grand mal seizure and being diagnosed with two separate tumors in his brain on December 10, 2025. He is currently in the neurology ICU but will likely be transferred back to oncology after brain surgery. Both his parents have been at the hospital with him. Any funds raised will go to covering Jay’s medical expenses and expenses incurred by the family as a result of Jay’s hospitalization and treatment.
