My name is Fatima Afzal, and I’m a third-year medical student at the University of Saskatchewan, studying at the Regina campus. During a palliative care lecture last year, I had the opportunity to meet the pediatric palliative care team at Regina General Hospital. That experience left a lasting impact on me.
Since then, I’ve been working with Dr. Danielson on a small but meaningful project: upgrading the pediatric palliative care room at RGH. Currently, the space lacks the warmth and comfort that families need when facing the unimaginable. For parents spending the last moments with their children, the environment can either provide a small sense of solace—or add to the emotional burden.
My goal is to raise enough funds to repaint and refurnish the room, transforming it into a calm, comforting, and home-like space. We envision a room where families can sit close, hold their little ones, and say goodbye surrounded by softness, warmth, and dignity.
Any support—whether financial, in-kind, or even spreading the word—would go directly toward creating that environment for families in the hardest moments of their lives.
In loving memory of my late grandfather. ❤️
Thank you for considering this heartfelt cause.
