Upgrade My Obsolete Cochlear Implant
Donation protected
Hi all;
My name is Alex, and I’ve heard basically my entire life through the cochlear implant I received on my left ear in January of 1994. I have all but zero memories of my ability to hear; the implant has been integral to my ability to live my life without interruption. I am otherwise profoundly deaf with no knowledge of American Sign Language.
I work in the service industry as a fine dining server. Money is usually good, but my income has suffered greatly since the COVID-19 pandemic began. I can barely cover my bills during this slow period.
My particular model of CI is due to become obsolete in about six months. Obsolescence of a CI means no further tech support; if it breaks, I am, shall we say, fucked.
I have no insurance and I’m attempting to round up the funds for a cochlear implant upgrade to continue living my life. Thank you all for your acknowledgement and support. Help me be the self to which I’ve become accustomed.
