Unexpected Loss of Scott Allen Butler

Donation protected

It is with great sadness and disbelief that we announce the unexpected passing of a devoted father and husband, Scott Allen Butler, who was tragically taken from us on Friday, January 12th, 2024 at 44 years old. Left to cherish the memories they made with Scott are his beloved wife, Christy Williams Butler, his son, Tyler, and three step-children Jared, Ashley, and Kyle. Scott’s whole world revolves around protecting and providing for them.

Scott was born on May 28th, 1979, in Humble, Texas. He and his family moved to Georgia when Scott was in high school where he graduated from Camden County High School in 1997. Scott went on to attend Valdosta State University and the University of Georgia before he found his passion in the ironworking industry. Upon meeting his wife, Christy, he relocated to Byron, Georgia and they married in November 2015.

Family was everything to Scott. Scott was the type of person to make friends with everybody when walking into a room. Nobody was a stranger to Scott. He was the epitome of selflessness and wouldn’t hesitate to give somebody the shirt right off his back, no matter the personal sacrifice. He enjoyed making people smile with his witty and quirky trait of quoting movies, his favorites being Forest Gump and National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. A true jack of all trades, Scott dabbled in woodworking and do-it-yourself projects including installing a wooden deck in their backyard and building the “funny farm”, a chicken coop that Scott prided himself on building and maintaining. On Saturdays, you could find Scott in front of the TV watching Georgia Bulldog Football. After the big game was over, Scott wouldn’t waste time checking on his chickens to make sure they were fed and happy. Scott was a competitive soul who enjoyed a good game of darts and held the title of “reigning trivia champion” between his family and friends. A “good time” to Scott was blasting Widespread Panic, his favorite band, and driving his lifted GMC Sierra with his co-pilot Macy “Goose”, Scott’s furry companion, in the passenger seat. When he was not spending time with his family or furry friend, Scott was hard at work as an ironworker and working towards his goals of building his “dream house” on the lake with his wife.

With all of the emotional pain and stress this unexpected loss has brought this family, it has also brought some financial burdens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to help cover necessary expenses.
