First, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has donated, shared, and lifted the Varela family in love and prayer. Your support has made a real difference. Thanks to you, the family was able to pay in advance for Lindsay’s physical therapy and other critical care, which has helped her make remarkable progress with her legs after the terrible car accident caused by a seizure.

Now, the family faces the next chapter of this journey: navigating Lindsay’s brain tumor diagnosis and upcoming treatments. While there is still much that is unknown, we do know that a biopsy will be scheduled soon, and chemo and radiation therapy are likely to follow. Before this life-altering event, the Varela family relied on two incomes. Lindsay, a devoted special education teacher who truly loved her work, is no longer able to earn an income. Meanwhile, everyday living expenses continue, and medical bills are rapidly adding up. This creates a heavy burden on my brother and his family, who are trying to focus on what matters most—healing, family, and supporting each other through this difficult time. Lindsay is a fighter, and she’s fighting with everything she has for her young family who needs her.
