Upcoming surgery - requesting help...

My dear friends and family,

I have set up this GoFundMe in the hopes that you could find it in your heart to help me again.

For the past two years, I have been dealing with pain, hospitalizations, and severe hemorrhaging, and I have not been able to leave my house except to go to doctor appointments. I also have not been able to work all this time due to not knowing when I will start bleeding or double over in pain. I was told I had extremely large fibroids, endometriosis and anemia due to blood loss. I ended up having a uterine artery embolization last July. After my recovery, I was fine for a few months, and it started all over again. It wasn’t supposed to. So, since the procedure was not effective, my OBGYN said I only had one option left – a hysterectomy. Having this surgery is the last thing I want to do because I have always wanted kids. However, I am 48 years old, and according to the fertility doctor I saw a few years ago, I do not have anything viable, and it would not be possible. I am devastated because I was holding onto the last bit of hope that I would be able to; however, it is not to be for me. Right now, I have to take care of this unbearable situation.

I am scheduled to have the surgery on December 6, and for me to have it, they need to shrink my uterus and fibroids. The only thing that could help to do that is a shot called Lupron. This shot has been killing me. It sends you into menopause – but the hot flashes are not the only side effects of this drug. Those I could manage…but I also have terrible joint pain, cannot move my lower back or neck, have migraines, and am even more depressed and anxious than usual. I sleep for 18 hours a day, and I am beyond exhausted – and this is all from the shot so I could have the hysterectomy.

What I am requesting – begging for - is helping to pay for this surgery. It is NOT cheap, and for us, not affordable. Our insurance only covers 30% of it, and we need to come up with the rest. We tried getting financial assistance, but we didn’t meet the criteria. I have not been working, so we have been depending on public assistance programs for the last six months. I do not get any unemployment. Matt is a temp but doesn’t make enough to cover this surgery. Our food stamps are done, and the amount of time the rental assistance program we use for rent is almost up.

The hysterectomy is a surgery I NEED to have, and I need to have it ASAP. All I want is to have a life, go outside again, get a job, see all of you lovely people and be happy again. The only way that will happen is if I get this surgery. I hate asking for financial help – many of you have helped Matt and me a few times, but you are my last hope this time. I am trying to hold onto my faith, but it is getting more difficult each day I am in pain.
