Up & Down the UK (and back!) in 12 hours
Donation protected
The news that Charlotte's cholangiocarcinoma is back and that she MIGHT only have months to live without access to groundbreaking treatment is devastating and a huge shock, not least to Charlotte, to her family and to her close friends.
But, the key word is 'might' and the last few days have seen an incredible response from over three thousand donors (some who know Charlotte and her family, some who are friends of friends but also many who are complete strangers moved by the coverage in the local and national media - Click for Story ) to raise in excess of £100k already. The kindness of strangers is truly astounding and we know the response in the last 72 hours will be an incredible source of support and energy for Charlotte – right when she needs it the most.
So, what can we do to help? Lots of people have expressed an eagerness to do something positive to express their support and perhaps raise a few pounds in the process.
Time is obviously of the essence here, so we have devised a challenge which should be just that (a challenge!) but is also achievable at short notice, with minimal (to no…) training and within the constraints of COVID.
On Monday 31 August 2020 (which is a bank holiday in England) a group of at least 64 people will each walk (or run, but not cycle – too easy!) at least 26.2 miles each between the hours of 8am and 8pm which, once completed, amounts to a combined distance of 1,676 miles (the equivalent of walking from Lands End to John O'Groats, and back!).
You can do your miles where you wish and with who you wish, but you must record the miles on Strava (or equivalent) and you do need to commit to a minimum of 26.2 miles please (otherwise we might end up doing Lands End to Newcastle or Gretna Green service station maybe – which isn’t as attention grabbing or donation worthy!).
Charlotte, Kyle, Mark, Gemma, Jackie, Jonathan and Lola the Cockapoo need our support.
