Allison's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Since 2018, Ally has been fighting severe acute and chronic illnesses. After being medically evacuated from Abidjan in October 2018, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and continued to grow sicker. Ally's original diagnosis (and later discovered, perhaps a misdiagnosis) was the tip of the iceberg - she has since experienced a litany of extreme symptoms, including acute pancreatitis, a severe case of COVID, extreme neurological deficits, and debilitating chronic pain. Over the past 5 years, Ally has been hospitalized more than fifteen times for up to weeks at a time and undergone countless medical procedures as she and Samuel have continued to fight for answers and the best possible medical treatment.
In October of 2022, Ally was diagnosed with chronic and active Lyme disease - a disease that is under researched, difficult to diagnose, and extremely complex to treat. This June, Ally and Sam moved to California where Ally is under the care of a functional medicine doctor well-versed in Lyme disease. For the past five years, she and Sam have worked tirelessly to find answers, advocate for Ally's well-being, and access the best medical care possible.
Many friends and family consistently ask how to best support Ally and Sam. Of course, on-going medical treatment (especially now, in the United States) is extremely expensive and has driven them into debt. If you would like to assist with their financial burden, all proceeds from this GoFundMe will be directly allocated to medical expenses. Ally's loved ones are so incredibly proud of her strength and resilience over these past 5 years and grateful for any support you are able to offer.
