Unusual Hospital Stay Help

Donation protected
Hey, so this recent hospitalization was wild. I went in with obvious signs of lung rejection, but found out it was a psudomonis infection that I hadn’t seen in quite a while coupled with pneumonia. I’m out of the hospital now, but it’s going to be a long recovery period. I’m going to need some extra help moving forward.

To start off, I spent a good amount of money while I was in the hospital just ordering food, especially food that was friendly to my painfully sore throat. I had sinus surgery, and I needed lots of hot soup and cold drinks that weren’t really available at the hospital. So, I had to get things delivered to me which hit a huge blow to my already very tight food budget.

I lost a lot of weight while I was in the hospital (about 25 pounds). Weight loss can be scary for transplant patients and cystic fibrosis patients, both of which I happen to be. I like to cook, so I don’t usually use ready-made food, especially since they’re so expensive. Thanks to my CF, I have a huge appetite, and I can easily eat a meal for 4 all by myself. I really need to eat healthily while I’m recouping, so I’m going to need help in getting prepared food and readily accessible foods since my food budget has run dry. Food funds would go a long way to help me right now.

The second thing I need help with is getting my home more accessible to my new needs. Since I have an IV placed in my arm, I need a detachable shower head to be able to shower. Also, normal showering is hard to do when you’re on oxygen. I need things that will help me and all the awkward angles I have using my shower chair while hooked up to an IV and oxygen. I also found out the other night that my current shower chair is not great for the current tub I have. I almost fell. I added a new shower chair to my wishlist becuase I believe that one would work way better in my current predicament. Also, my body can’t handle every day showering right now, so I’ll also be relying on leave-in products which are more expensive. I also need things to help my room be semi-sanitized because doing IV treatments at home comes with risks and I need to do my best to keep everything as low risk as possible.

I don’t know how long my recovery will last. The pneumonia harmed my lungs, so even just moving and breathing is very painful and difficult right now, and it will be like this for at least a month according to my transplant team. This is going to be a stressful time for me and my roommates who I will be relying heavily on.

I’m hoping you can donate to this GoFundMe account to help me get what I need right now. This financial situation is already causing me huge amounts of stress when I’m supposed to be resting and recovering. Anything you can donate (or purchase through my Amazon WishList) is greatly appreciated. There may also be unknown medical costs throw in as recovery goes along. I've only dealt with two days at home. Who knows what will be apparent later on. This page will update to any new changes that may come up so I will do my best to keep everyone and everything updated.
