No good deed goes unpunished.
Well, this is difficult for me to do because I'm embarassed to ask for help but i'm about to lose my apartment and potentially all 3 of my jobs and my car so here goes..
To those of you who know me, hello friends.
My name is Will Hurlock, I live in Exton Pa and due to a series of really unlucky events I am days away from facing eviction and losing my vehicle which will literally leave me and my 3 dogs homeless and jobless. I'm a carpenter/contractor and dog trainer/handler. I work full time during the week building houses /remodelling them and I work part time at a K9 facility handling/training lots of incredible and beautiful dogs ranging from pups to seniors. I have 3 Pitbulls myself who I love with all my heart, 2 I rescued from dire situations and my big guy Abel I adopted as a puppy and trained him to work alongside me at the facility and when training certain dogs with behavioral issues. As you can imagine owning 3 dogs is a rather expensive endevour but I make daily sacrifices to ensure I can care for them in every way. I also have a beautiful 14 year old son, Willy who lives close by.
I recently took a friend of a friend in because he was literally homeless and I wanted to help him get back on his feet. He was great company and for the most part a pleasure to have in my home until I the day he decided to either ignore or forget everything I taught him and caused a horrific dog fight between Abel and Dallas. They both required emergency vet care which is really expensive and I had to sign a promissary note giving them my word I would pay the bill which was just short of $600. Both dogs recovered after a few weeks and I thought things were ok when what do you know, he caused another fight between the two. Fortunately this time I was home and after 8 minutes of insanity I was able to stop the fight and seperate them. Needless to say that was the last straw and I told him he had to go. This time I took care of the dogs myself because I couldn't afford another vet visit. I suffered a broken hand during the fight and after trying to work with it for a week I had to go to the ER because it was getting worse by the day. So after all was said and done I recieved a $17,800 hospital bill. I don't have health insurance as like many I can't afford it.
On top of that I went out in my jeep during the last snow storm we had here in late January with a tow cable and snow shovel to help anyone I came across who was stuck or stranded in their cars. We rescued 8 people throughout the night but destroyed my transmission in the process. I had to buy and install a replacement transmission with the help of a friend as I couldn't afford to take the jeep to a shop. That was roughly $650 by the time it was all done.
Just this week on my way home from work I saw 2 dogs running through traffic almost get hit by cars twice so I followed them and tried to catch them to hopefully contact their owners and take them home. Well they ran through the woods and after following them for about a half mile I got my jeep stuck in a swamp literally 75 feet from the road. 5 police officers showed up, with 2 tow trucks and I had to get the jeep winched out and towed. I dont know how much that is going to cost yet but i'm working on it as we speak. I was told potentially $200-$300.
As you can imagine due to not having a vehicle for a month and recently again this week I have and am missing lots of work. I have some great friends who are trying to help me with rides but they work full time too so it's difficult. I do lots of side work too but i'm unable to do any right now because my vehichle is stuck in a tow companys yard until i'm able to pay them to release it, and the storage cots are going up with each passing day.
All this has caused me to fall way behind with my rent, almost 3 months now, and i'm 2 days away from having to tell my landlord I am unable to pay him the money he has asked for which will result in me having to leave our home.
I've tried to get financial help from banks and other lenders with no luck due to having very little credit history and the fact that i'm self employed.
All I want to do is go to work, take care of my dogs, help other people with their dogs and be able to spend time with my son. I can't really do any of that if I lose my home and don't even have the option to leave because I don't have my vehicle.
I don't regret trying to help my friend, nor do I regret helping the people stranded in the snow or the dogs this week who almost got run over. I will always do whatever I can to help anyone i see in need or who asks me for help even if it results in difficult times for me, but I never thought doing so would put me in a situation like this.
I've never asked for help like this before and I still feel really embarassed putting this out there but i've exhausted all other options.
To say I would be thankful for peoples help is a gross understatement. I would be more than willing to pay back the kindness with my services either construction or dog related and can be contacted easily through Facebook.
I think I covered everything. Sorry it was such a long story and thank you for taking the time to read it.
Sincerely
Will Hurlock.
