Untying the Knot

Hey all, friendly neighborhood Leia here. As you may have heard I have recently obtained full legal separation from my now ex-husband.  It was a long process and the actual events leading up to it were messy and involves a lot of really distressing personal details that I'd rather not talk about here. Rest assured I have been seeking professional counseling for this. I have also recently obtained the bill for said separation. Due to a lot of generosity on my lawyer's part much of the expenditures have been mitigated, however I still need to pay my fair portion of the filing fees and so on. As a direct result of my separation my former roommate and I could no longer afford to live in our townhouse, despite the landlord kindly working with us to try and keep us with a roof over our heads. We had to each go our separate ways and I currently live with a coworker who was generous enough to let me stay in the spare room in her attic, where I help with utilities. I am deeply grateful to her and her husband. In the last six months I have had to cover a lot of long-time-coming car repairs to the vehicle I have retained from the divorce: A new front axle,  new tires,  fixed alignment, most recently new drum brakes...It adds up quick. The total expenditures for car repairs and maintenance over the last six months has been in the range of approximately $900. The car repairs are mostly paid off, but it has eaten away at what little savings I had and leaves me with very little in the way of liquid assets. I left my ex-husband with $50 in my bank account and a steady job. I have worked very hard to get to where I am now. I am also moving across the country to another state to pursue better job opportunities in the middle of September, approximately seven weeks from writing this. I'd like to pay off the firm by the end of August, to prevent having to worry about paying them when I am across state lines. It does not give me a lot of time to let my bank account recover from paying the firm, paying off the car repairs  on my credit card, and then road tripping from central Illinois to Washington state.  I will be cashing out my retirement fund at my current job to ship the majority of my belongs to my new home, so that is pretty well taken care of. I have a little cash stashed away to be a cushion in the event my name change proceedings have further expenses and am keeping full coverage on my car until I have finished moving, just in case. Which brings me to what I am asking for: The total I owe to the law firm comes out to $500. I am asking for $600 to help cover the fees associated with using GoFundMe's service.  Any funds over what I need to pay the firm will go towards helping me pay down my car repairs and bolstering my savings in preparation to move. I would like to offer a little doodle of whatever you would like to anyone who donates over $10. Just put your request in the description. I can't promise the world, but I can give you a cute little sketch for your graciousness. Your support would mean that I can squirm my way into financial stability in a new state and make my way to seeking out my own goals and dreams.  I would be forever grateful if you can help me get to a place of stability where I can move on from this nightmare.
