Untitled Female-Led Short Film

Donation protected
Hi our names our Zaynah, Claudia and Maya and we are three women currently working on an untitled project that combines an environmentalist message with experimental film techniques. The film revolves around two friends who spend a day at the funfair. As they use up their tokens, conversations about personal dreams and navigating urban life in their twenties emerge and the world around them becomes unrecognisable. Piles of rubbish come alive and they are buried by the crushing weight of the future.

The film serves as a surreal commentary on societal excess, contrasting personal dreams with human over-consumption and the effect this has on the younger generation in the wake of the climate emergency.

Director of Photography -
Zaynah is a talented freelance director of photography, camera op and video technician. Graduating from Royal Holloway University in film, TV and digital production, specialising in cinematography, she has since worked on many impressive productions. Her most recent DoP short film ‘The Women on the Inside’ won Best Short film at the London Independent Film Festival.

Claudia Kurucz is an accomplished actress and theatre director, as a founder of Coin Toss Collective, an innovative young theatre company, she has had performances put on at the Bristol Old Vic, Vault Festival and the Bush Theatre. Drawing from her theatrical background, Claudia's films are driven by ideas of spectacle and visual storytelling, creating her first short film 'Grandma's Footsteps' in 2021 as the director and lead actor. Currently, she is interested in focusing on highlighting environmental effects and incorporating her signature use of movement, surrealism and clowning into a film format.
