Sudden death of our colleague DrMohammed Marouf

Dear All,

 

My Name is Syeda Amna Azim. I am the NCHD working in University Hospital Limerick (UHL). Mondays are the start of the work week which offers a fresh start, but this morning wasn't the same. Who would have thought, we would begin this week in UHL without Mohammed.

 

On 27th June 2022, one of our most respected, beloved colleague Dr Mohammed Marouf, suddenly passed away. He was from Sudan and has worked in UHL for the last 4 years as a Surgical Registrar. He was due to commence his next rotation from July as a the Surgical Registrar in Dublin. Sorrow fills our hearts this sad moment of his death at such a young age, a sorrow that is deep and personal. Our lives will be empty in the areas that he had brightened for us.

 

He gave energy, commitment and inspiration to his staff and to others with whom he worked.He generously gave us his knowledge, his expertise, his skills. In his career as a Surgical Registrar, he worked with passion, integrity and energy. By his death all the people who knew him will miss a highly intelligent, vibrant individual with a rare friendliness and charm of personality. Dr Marouf was a genuinely warm and wonderful individual—one we will miss greatly. Our sorrow is lessened only slightly with the comforting thought that we had the privilege to know him.

 

Dr Marouf was living proof of how fine a person can be. He was an excellent senior doctor to the people in his charge, a loving husband to his wife, a devoted father to his children and an obedient son to his parents . He was also a great colleague and a good friend to many of us. To me he was not just my senior colleague but a mentor, who was brother like. The character of the life he lived might be summed up in a few words: he was sincere, earnest, and loyal. 

 

Our hearts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time. May Allah SWT, grant him the Highest level of Paradise and give the strength to his family and loved ones to bear the loss . Aameen ya Rabbil alamin.

 

I have taken the initiative to set up a Gofund me page. The funds will be used to help a grieving family in their time of mourning.
